QR Code Generator

Turn a link, text, Wi-Fi login, phone number or email into a QR code in seconds. Pick your colours, download a crisp PNG or SVG, and print it anywhere. The codes are static, so they never expire and keep working without this site.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose what the QR code should do: open a link or show text, join a Wi-Fi network, call a number or start an email.
  2. Fill in the details. The QR code updates as you type.
  3. Optionally change the colours, error correction and PNG size under Design and size.
  4. Download it as PNG for sharing and documents, or SVG for print and design tools, then scan it once with your phone to check.

Formula

Data → byte encoding → Reed–Solomon error correction → QR matrix

Data
the text, link or formatted payload such as WIFI:T:WPA;S:name;P:password;;
Reed–Solomon
extra error-correction codewords that let a damaged code still be read
Level
L, M, Q or H restores about 7%, 15%, 25% or 30% of damaged modules

The generator picks the smallest QR version (from 21×21 up to 177×177 modules) that fits your data at the chosen error correction level.

Worked example

A café wants a QR code that joins its guest Wi-Fi network called Chai-Corner, password masala2026.

  1. ModeWi-Fi, WPA/WPA2/WPA3
  2. Encoded textWIFI:T:WPA;S:Chai-Corner;P:masala2026;;
  3. SettingsHigh error correction, 2048 px PNG

A printable code that joins customers to the Wi-Fi from their phone camera, with no password typing.

Static QR codes never expire

Many free QR sites create a short link on their own server and put that link inside the code. If the service shuts down or starts charging, every printed code stops working. The codes made here contain your data directly, so a printed code will scan the same way in ten years.

The trade-off is that a static code cannot be edited after printing. If a link might change, point the QR code at a page you control, such as your website or a link-in-bio page, and update that page instead.

Wi-Fi QR codes for homes, shops and offices

A Wi-Fi QR code lets guests join your network by pointing their camera at it, without spelling out a long password. Both Android and iPhone cameras recognise the format.

Print it for a café counter, a guest room or a meeting room. The password is stored inside the image, so put it only where you would be comfortable writing the password itself.

Getting a code that scans every time

Most scanning problems come from contrast, size or too much data.

  • Keep a dark foreground on a light background. Inverted or pastel codes fail on many phones.
  • Print at least 2 cm wide for close scanning, larger for posters read from a distance.
  • Use High error correction if the code will be printed on rough surfaces or might get scratched.
  • Shorter content makes a simpler, more reliable code, so use a short link for long URLs.

Things to keep in mind

  • QR codes are generated in your browser. Links, Wi-Fi passwords and messages are never uploaded or stored.
  • Static codes cannot be edited after printing. Generate a new one if the content changes.
  • Always test a printed code with more than one phone before printing in bulk.

Frequently asked questions

Is this QR code generator really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark, no scan limit and no expiry. The QR code contains your data directly, so it does not depend on CALQEVA to keep working.

Do the QR codes expire?

No. These are static QR codes. As long as the link or information inside is still valid, the code will scan indefinitely, even if this website disappears.

Should I download PNG or SVG?

PNG works everywhere: WhatsApp, documents and websites. SVG is a vector file that stays perfectly sharp at any size, so it is the better choice for printing banners, standees and packaging or for editing in design software.

Can I make a QR code for UPI payments?

Yes. Use the UPI QR Code Generator on CALQEVA, which builds a proper UPI payment link with your UPI ID, name and a fixed amount that payment apps understand.
